Kalkan is set on Turkey's South West coast, referred to as the "Turquoise coast" because of it's magnificent turquoise coloured sea. The area is steeped in history and is in the heart of the Lycian region, famous for it's plethora of ancient sites, including Xanthos, Tlos and Patara, which are all within easy driving distance from the villa.
Kalkan itself, once a small fishing village, curls snugly
around a harbour at the foot of the Taurus Mountains. It’s cobbled
streets wind their way around the small town full of local craft shops,
cafes, bars and restaurants.
Other than the welcoming hospitality of the local Turkish people many
visitors return to Kalkan year after year due to the amount of fabulous
restaurants, It is a culinary delight! There are over 100 of them
offering an extremely high standard of food and service. Many of them
have romantic roof top terraces, some overlooking the harbour, where you
can dine under the stars, listening to live music such as smooth
jazz, or traditional Turkish.
Nightlife in Kalkan is very relaxed and often involves meandering
the streets after dinner then stopping off in one of the bars or
cafes for a cocktail or two before retiring back to the villa. If
you are after something a bit more lively Some of the bars have music
and are open till the early hours.
Kalkan has a small pebble beach and 4 beach clubs, set out on platforms
cut out of the rocks. The nearest sandy beach to Kalkan is Kaputas
which is a 10 minute drive from the villa, on the beautiful coastal road
toward Kas, the nearest town. The famous Patara beach, the birth place
of "Santa Claus" has over 18 km. of golden sand is about 25 minute drive
from Kalkan.
For the more energetic, Kalkan has it’s own PADI registered dive centre
based at the Kalamar beach club. Owned by Altan and his wife Vicky, they
can offer diving courses from beginners to advanced. Visit them at

You can also hire your very own crew and gullet for the day, where you
will sail around the bay, stop off a various points for a swim before
enjoying a delicious lunch on board.
Kalkan has 3 supermarkets in town, all offer an order by phone and
delivery service direct to the villa. Alternatively there is a small
grocers 2 minutes walk from the villa.
There is a weekly Market, held each Thursday, in Kalkan where you can
buy almost anything from spices, fresh fruit and vegetables to designer
labelled clothes.
Kalkan also has a bank, post office, medical centres, chemist and a
dentist.
Villa Palmiye is the perfect private villa to base yourself for your Kalkan holiday. We are in blissfully quiet area of Kisla, but just 3 minutes by taxi to the shops, bars and restaurants. Kisla is also home to the villa Mahal Hotel, which was recently voted as having one of the top 10 best views in the World. Villa Palmiye is situated just above the hotel so we too, have those very views!
